A few days before British Prime Minister Winston Churchill (Gary Oldman) took office, he must face one of the most difficult problems in his life and make a decisive choice: whether he should start negotiations with Nazi Germany, sacrificing his principles and signing a cooperation agreement, or to protect the rights and freedoms of citizens of their country. An uncontrolled Nazi machine sweeps across Western Europe, sweeping everything in its path and enslaving entire states. Churchill understands that the invasion of his country is inevitable and will eventually happen sooner or later. However, unprepared public, a skeptical monarch, as well as constant skirmishes and misunderstandings within his party are strongly hitting Churchill. What will the new Prime Minister Churchill do at this difficult hour for the entire British people? Will he be able to withstand, take the only correct decision in the name of the interests of his people and change the course of history? The British historical film-drama, directed by Joe Wright, tells of the very beginning of the Second World War, and about what is happening at that time chaos at Downing Street.
